may flowers.

so for bella's first birthday, i've decided to do a vintage garden party theme. and i am loving it. i've been up to my eyeballs in decorative paper, pretty fabric and pink tissue paper, making flowers, blossom branches and toppers for her cake.

here are a few of my lil projects...

- tissue paper rosette initial
this little sucker took me *forever*. i literally feared that i would miss the birth of my grandchildren while time ticked away as i made millions of rosettes out of tissue paper and glued them onto a "b" i cut out of foam board. but i just love it. and i'll get to hang it in bella's nursery when her party is over. the good news: i am still thirty, bella is still one and nick is still wondering why i'm doing all of these projects for something our daughter won't even remember. so, apparently it didn't take as long as it felt!

- cake toppers
i had the idea of making flowers to stick into the top of bella's birthday cake, and i came up with these sweet little blooms. i found a wooden tulip on a stick at michaels for .59 cents that i just covered with pretty scrapbook paper, and the others i made out of paper or fabric and glued onto longer lollipop sticks. ready to sink into the top of a yummy strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting. i l-o-v-e these cute lil flowers.

- blossom branches
this is one of my most favorite craft projects i've ever done. they are so simple, but i am in love with these sweet little branches! i had a pile of branches and sticks building up in the back of our car that i had collected in nick's parents yard, and at a local park. i washed these lil wine bottles out and placed a branch in each and then used pink scrapbook paper and tissue paper to create lil cherry blossoms that i glued onto the branches with my oh-so-trusty glue gun. aren't these just so cute?!

- bella's birthday belt
i just posted this project a couple days ago... but this is the sweet lil belt i made bella to wear with her cream lace birthday dress.

spring is one of my favorite times of the year. i love the pastel colors, signs of new life and of course the beautiful flowers blooming about. aaaand springtime brought us one of our most precious gifts just one year ago... {excuse me while i go cry}. can't believe my baby girl is about to be ONE!!

happy spring :)

  1. I LOVE these ideas - totally saving this in my "birthday inspiration" folder. :) But one question: with a little one, when do you find the TIME to do these projects? Using a glue gun? Isn't she crawling all over you? Or do I just have a super-gymnastic kiddo?

  2. oh girl... trust me, that's why it's taken me sooooo long! i only work on these projects when she's napping, so i get an hour or two here and there... or after she goes to bed at night. i got alot done last saturday because nick watched her and kept her away from me (as much as he could!) :)
