halloween in pictures.

i'm totally into costumes for the girls for halloween.  i think it's really fun and super adorable.  i was telling nick it's one of my favorite days to scroll through facebook because i love, love, love seeing all my friends and family members kiddos all dressed up.  it's just so cute!  i'm not so much into all of the spooky scariness of the season at all, actually... but the girls for sure love the candy.  we embrace what we like and leave the rest (as my mother-in-law would say... really great advice!) :)

typically, we dress the girls up, go to my mom's office where they pass out candy and take photos of the little trick-or-treaters, and then head to my aunts for the rest of the evening.  we have dinner together and the kids play and pass out candy to all of the kids that ring her doorbell.  my aunt has more candy than they'd get if they went to a hundered houses, so it totally works for all of us.

this year we had a cinderella and a strawberry.  and they were pretty darn cute.

trick or treat.

i always get so excited to dress my munchkins up for halloween.  i plan out their costumes and love taking a million pictures!  this year, my camera died before i could get many, but i did manage to snap a few...

emmy faith's first halloween!  i found this super adorable pink bunny costume courtesy of google-searching.  the best part was the little cotton ball tail, and i didn't even get a picture of it!  i'll probably dress her in it again next week just to get a few more photos... but it even came with a carrot rattle.  how cute!

it was especially fun with bella because she was super into it!  she'd been talking about "her costume" for days... "mama, i want to show jude my costume!"  "i want to wear my costume and go...get...CANDY!"  needless to say, girl was pumped.  we originally got her a cinderella dress (as she is obsessed with all things princess) and i was SO excited to have her wear it... alas, even the smallest size was too big on our tiny two year old.  so, in the closet it stays until next year.  we improvised with a pretty tutu dress and princess accessories... and she was just in heaven!

we went to meme's work (she works for a tv station), hung out with jude and lucy and went to aunt holly's house where they got treats and bella got to socialize with all of their trick or treaters.  at one point, she was outside telling everyone "ohhh, come on in!" and handing out candy.  what a nut.

one of my favorite moments of the night was getting pictures of the girls in the entryway of our home.  sound totally lame?  ok, i'll explain.  we live in my grandparents old house, and i have pictures of me when i was a little girl, dressed as a princess, standing in that same entryway.  it just flooded my heart with nostaligic goodness.  love stuff like that.

until next year...

our sweet little strawberry.

i was never really a fan of halloween. it just seemed kind of stupid to me.

and then, i had a baby.

how could you not adore seeing your sweet little munchkin dressed up in an oh-so-adorable little costume?! throw in the fact that we ration candy, which means i get to eat a bunch of her halloween goodies? ok, i'm sold. i now enjoy october 31st in all of it's cute-costumes-and-candy-coated glory.

yesterday was bella's second halloween. last year, she looked like this:

this year, she dressed up as the sweetest little strawberry you ever did see. i found the costume one day when i was browsing online at old navy. and within a few days, i was dragging nick to our store to make the purchase. how could i not resist?

i think she knew she was pretty cute stuff... because she never keeps anything on her head for more than two seconds when we're in the car (including ponytails, elastics and all hats). but yesterday, she left her little hat alone. i think we may have to wear that strawberry hat all winter! ;)

here are a few pictures from the day...

already excited about next year and having two kiddos to dress up! so fun. my biggest temptation from bella's halloween goodies? the bag of cheese puffs she got in her halloween treats from mimi. oh lord. you cannot put a bag of cheese puffs within five feet of this pregnant mama.

i may or may not have eaten half the bag today...
